3. Have you carried grain cargo in port of USA?Which port? How about the cargo hold inspection? Which concern party on board your vessel for cargo inspection? How many cargo hold slacks for grain cargo on previous vessel? ( one Hold ) How do you calculated the grain cargo?(by computer or by manual?) How to calculate the grain cargo by manual?

4. What kind of cargo have you carried in Australia? Have you carried salt in Australia? And how to clean the cargo hold after carry salt cargo? Procedure and what are the contents of lime for cargo hold coating? How to remove the lime coating?
A: Mix of sugar 20% and 10% milk powder and 70% of lime will be easy to remove lime coating after discharge of salt
5. What is bending moment and shearing force? How to calculate and control during loading heavy cargo?

11. How do you handle stevedore damage? In case of cargo damage after cargo being discharge to shore (truck), what to do?
A: Answer is take picture and make remark on boat note
12. How do you handle the case when there is substantial difference between shore and ship’s cargo figures?
A: Answer is put remark in difference of cargo quantity
13. If you have any ideas in case of any cargo damage found on the shore side but not found any damage onboard?
A: ship no responsibility during discharging. But be careful to avoid any damage cargo onboard during loading.
14. If charter intends to load heavy cargo with excessive weight on tank top, what will you do?
A: To check and calculate strength of tank top. however, do not overload.
15. How to calculate the stack weight on tank top in cargo hold?
A: Weight should be calculated on touch points
B. About SMS
1. What is the purpose of SMS?
A: for the human safety and protect environment.
2. What is ISM code?
A: international safety management regulation.
3. What is the master’s overriding authority? which code number indicate in the ISM code?
A: in code no. 5.2 that the master has the overriding authority and the responsibility to make decisions with respect to safety and pollution prevention and request the company’s assistance as may be necessary.
4. How to motivate crew implementation and awareness? what is the best motivation for crews? money? master’s review?

A: 1). implementing the safety and environment protection policy of company. 2). Motivating the crew in the observation of that policy. 3). 12. How to test the DSC and NBDP?
A: Select test from manual. – individual transfer. And then, receive electron voice from another DSC receiver.

14. What is the meaning of NC and deficiency?
A: Report of NC from Master if deficiency is found. Many Master & C/E not reporting NC to company. Master has wrong concept of being afraid of reporting NC & deficiencies. Master should report NC and followed by collection action.
15. If you pass Panama Cannel should be provided with this SOPEP.
A: Yes, To be checked by port authority.
16. In port of Chile, very strong swell direct towards to the berth in some season, how do you take the action for safety the vessel? if vessel is alongside berth under critical weather situation i.e. heavy swell, and mooring broken.
A: 1). Plus more mooring ropes. 2). To get main engine ready and re-mooring. Call port authority to send pilot an dtug assistance. If necessary.
17. At sea, how do you control your officers? How do you control you officer’s complain against your order?
A: 1).
18. How do you control alcohol on board? Do you conduct unannounced alcohol test on board?
A: To comply with control alcohol policy of SMS and regulation of IMO. No alcohol to be supplied on board and sale to crewmember. To conduct alcohol test if fit out the equipment on board.
C. About ISPS
1. Do you know what is ISPS code? When does it become enforced?
A: international ship and port facility security system. Enforced date :1st Jul 2004.
2. How do you manage ISPS?
A: Carry out ship security plan
3. What do you know about activity of security?
A: Access control and enhance gangway watch.
4. What is priority of PSC inspection?
A: Safety equipment on deck and oil pollution in E/R, oiler separator & Oiler Record Book, garbage control.
5. In case of conflict of security and safety, what should be priority?
A: 1st Safety and then Security
6. What is the clear ground in respect of ISPS?

A: Carefully report to ship’s owner or operator to get assistance.
D. About Navigation/Collision
1. Do you have experience of entering US ports/European ports; self-pilot, self-berthing/un-berthing in Japan island sea?
A: answer by oneself experience
2. For the ship maneuvering, what is the transfer in term ship’s maneuvering? Turning circuit? Which is advance?

3. In case of charters ask to arrive port as soon as possible while Typhoon is approaching, what will Master to do?
A: Very carefully to check weather and typhoon access first. Take a way to avoid typhoon attack.
4. How do you take action in case the charter asking your vessel passing the Typhoon area?
A: Can not follow charter’s instruction sail into the typhoon area.
5. How do you take action during Typhoon is coming and crossing your vessel when your vessel berthing? but you never received any instruction from agent side and port authority
A: Sailing to anchorage, to drop both anchors and keep main engine stand by.
6. Do you have experience for off hire delay?
A: yes / not

A: When navigation in narrow channel.
8. How do you take action during the vessel collision on the open sea or near the coast?
A: keep dead slow speed to push another vessel for securiry and rescue if in open sea. Push the vessel toward to ground if near coast.
