Interviewer (面试官): Good morning. Let’s start with your experience. Could you briefly introduce your experience in welding inspection?

Candidate (应聘者): Good morning. I have been working as a welding inspector for 5 years. I’ve participated in oil pipeline projects and pressure vessel manufacturing. My main duties included checking welding processes, ensuring compliance with WPS, and conducting visual and NDT tests. Having my CSWIP certification has helped me apply professional knowledge effectively in these tasks.

Interviewer: That’s helpful. Now, what do you think are the key points in welding inspection before welding?

Candidate: Before welding, three key points matter most. First, verify the WPS—checking parameters like current, voltage, and pre-heat. Second, inspect consumables: electrodes, wires, fluxes must match the material and project specs. Third, check joint preparation—root gap, root face, and surface cleanliness to avoid contaminants like rust or oil.

Interviewer: Got it. What if you find non-conformities during inspection? How do you deal with them?

Candidate: First, I record details: location, type, severity. Then, I discuss with the welding team and supervisors to figure out the cause. I propose corrective actions, like re-welding or adjusting procedures. Finally, I follow up to re-inspect and ensure compliance.

Interviewer: NDT is crucial—can you explain its importance?

Candidate: Absolutely. Visual checks only find surface issues, but NDT (like UT or RT) detects internal defects: cracks, porosity, lack of fusion. This ensures weld integrity, especially in critical industries like aerospace or oil and gas, where safety depends on flawless joints.

Interviewer: Last question—what are your career goals as a CSWIP inspector?

Candidate: Short-term, I want to master advanced NDT techniques and stay updated on new standards. Long-term, I hope to lead inspection teams on large projects, act as a technical advisor, and help improve overall welding quality in the industry.

Interviewer: Thank you for your answers. We’ll be in touch soon.

Candidate: Thank you for the opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you.
