1. 水手长（boatswain/bosun）
水手长是海军舰艇上负责舱面勤务的初级指挥人员，由士官或准尉担任。
The bosun is the junior commanding officer in charge of cabin and surface services on naval vessels, and is served by a petty officer or warrant officer.
水手长的主要职责是维护舰体、索具及甲板设备，组织船艺训练、安排有关日常生活管理勤务等。
水手长在大副领导下，组织领导木匠和水手开展工作；编制水手航行、停泊轮值表，协助驾驶员了望；按大副指示安排水手进行船体和甲板部设备的维修保养、起落吊杆、开关舱、绑扎货物、清舱洗舱以及装卸和靠离泊的准备工作等。水手长又称高级水手，由资深的木匠或水手晋升担任水手长。
2. 一等水手（able seaman/able bodied sailor）
一等水手负责执行操舵、航行值班和日常甲板部维护保养。获得对应海船船员适任培训证书者可以担任一等水手。
The able seaman is responsible for steering, navigational watch duties and routine deck maintenance. Those who have passed the corresponding competency training for seagoing sailors can serve as able seaman.
3. 二等水手（ordinary sailor/ordinary seaman）
二等水手执行带缆、收放舷梯和甲板部的各种工艺工作。二等水手需要符合海员条件且经过专业培训。
The ordinary seaman performs the work of rigging, stowing and unrigging gangways and various work in the deck. The ordinary seaman is required to meet the requirements of a seafarer and to undergo specialized training.
4. 木匠（carpenter）
木匠负责木工及相关航次维修和保养，起锚机的操作和保养，淡水舱、压载舱及植物油舱的测量及维护。
The carpenter is responsible for carpentry and related voyage repairs and maintenance, the operation and maintenance of the Anchor Handler, and the measurement and maintenance of fresh water tanks, ballast tanks and vegetable oil tanks.
木匠根据大副的指示、协助机舱人员进行装卸货期间的压排水工作，航行途中测量相关舱室的存水，保证货物安全；在水手长的带领下做好甲板的日常工作。木匠由资深的水手晋升担任，不过也有很多船只的木匠由水手长兼任。
