QC: Good morning, Surveyor. We’ve completed the tailshaft inspection and reinstallation. Could we walk through the key points now?

Surveyor: Sure. First, did you measure the stern tube bearing wear-down? What’s the data?
(可以。首先,你们测量尾轴下沉量了吗?数据是多少?)

QC: Yes, the wear-down is 0.3mm, which is within the allowable limit of 0.5mm per Class rules. We’ve recorded it in the report.

Surveyor: Let me check the lignum vitae bearing. The fore side lignum vitae looks slightly worn—has it been replaced?

QC: No, but we ground it in to ensure proper contact. The clearance meets the standard. If you insist, we can replace it, but it might delay the docking schedule.

Surveyor: Since the wear is minor, grinding is acceptable. But make sure the rope guard is reinstalled properly to avoid damage during operation.

Surveyor: The grit blasting on the side plate doesn’t meet Sa2.5 standard—there are still residual rust spots in the corners.

QC: We did spotblasting on those areas, but the angle is hard to reach. Maybe we can use mechanical scaling for touch-up?

Surveyor: Mechanical scaling is only acceptable for small areas. For the double tank, the entire surface must be re-blasted—solvent can’t remove the oil sludge completely.

QC: Re-blasting the double tank will take 2 more days. The owner is pushing for undocking next week. Could we accept a micron thickness of 200μm instead of 250μm for the top side?

Surveyor: No compromise on thickness—it’s specified in the contract. You’ll have to adjust the schedule. Also, the bitumen coating on the hull bottom must be free of bubbles.

QC: The crankshaft deflection measurement is done—all data are within 0.05mm. Here’s the report.

Surveyor: Did you check the crank bearing clearance? I noticed some oil sludge in the stuffing box during the last visit.

QC: We cleaned the oil sludge and replaced the packing. The bearing clearance is 0.12mm, which is within the range. The exhaust valves were ground in too.

Surveyor: Let’s do a hydraulic pressure test on the cooling system. The L.O cooler’s sea water side must be leak-free—last time there was a gasket issue.

QC: Agreed. We’ve replaced all gaskets with new ones. The test pressure will be 1.5 times the working pressure, as required.

Surveyor: The anchor chain’s shackles have excessive wear—some are 30% worn. They need to be replaced, not just unshackled and reshackled.

QC: The owner wants to save costs—they said minor wear is acceptable. The chain locker is already cleaned, and the ranging anchor test passed.

Surveyor: Class rules require replacement when wear exceeds 10%. Also, the rudder pintle clearance is 0.8mm, which is over the 0.5mm limit. Grind it down.

QC: We’ll grind the rudder pintle today. For the shackles, can we replace half now and the rest during the next drydock? We’ll note it in the report.

Surveyor: Only if the owner submits a written confirmation. Otherwise, all defective shackles must be replaced before handover.

场景 5:电器设备与安全装置检查

Surveyor: The motor’s insulation resistance test shows 50MΩ—below the 100MΩ requirement. Did you bake it properly?

QC: It was baked for 8 hours, but maybe the humidity affected it. We can redo the baking and test again tomorrow.

Surveyor: Do that. Also, the smoke detecting cabinet failed the simulation test—no alarm when smoke was applied.
